Helping to Create College Football Greatness for the San Antonio Community

City Fans 210 Announcement

City Fans 210 Announcement

The University of San Antonio Roadrunners recently won their 2nd consecutive Conference USA football title. Now Head Coach Jeff Traylor and his surging team is joining the American Athletic Conference (AAC) and team expectations are very high that the Roadrunners will continue their winning ways!

Our expectations for greater team success have been elevated in light of the June 2021 U. S. Supreme Court ruling that now allows college athletes to be paid for their Name-Image-Likeness (NIL). This creates a countrywide marketplace whereas all universities, including UTSA, can compete at the highest level for college athletes .

Many of the recruitment advantages previously held by universities like Texas, Alabama, Georgia, TCU and Michigan, for example. have been neutralized by the Supreme Court’s NIL ruling.

How so? Imagine this.

You are a superior defensive high school recruit. You receive a scholarship offer to play at Alabama. They even get you lots of NIL money. But as good as you are, you may still just be the back-up throughout your college career and not get a lot of playing time and critical exposure for NFL scouts to see you play. Players need lots of playing time to get drafted by the National Football League. You can stay at Alabama, get paid handsomely and get a free education.  But it may likely not be good enough for a player to be a first or second round draft pick in the NFL. In 2018, Marcus Davenport was the 14th draft pick in the NFL’s 1st round. He played at UTSA for 4 years.

The former Roadrunner’s star player will receive a 2023 salary of $7,626,938 with the New Orleans Saints. He shined at UTSA with plenty of playing time and that helped write his ticket to the NFL. Now he’s earning the big bucks!

For several key reasons, The PM Group has launched City Fans 210. A new 501c3 nonprofit agency to raise NIL monies to enhance UTSA recruitment efforts and to help attract the best talent possible for the Roadrunners. By doing this, we can assist the University to become a major college football power, see the team on more national game telecasts and drive great economic benefits to our community.

Our advertising agency recently made a $375,000 donation commitment to City Fans 210. We also set up a website (www.CityFans210.org) for college football fans, local businesses, UTSA alumni and local government to support our goal of raising $4-5 million dollars a year to make it all possible. With that kind of money at City Fans 210 disposal, our board can do something amazing—possibly even helping UTSA to win a Power Conference title or Major Bowl in the very near future!

Remember this quote…..

When God puts a Goliath in front of you, its because there’s a David inside of you”

It’s more than possible for UTSA to become great if we all believe!
